Lippo Bank (LB) Scholarship 2008

PT Bank Lippo Tbk (“LB”), a major investee company of Khazanah Nasional Berhad, Malaysia, believes in developing the human capital in The Republic of Indonesia. In this regard, LB is pleased to offer scholarships and financial assistance to deserving Indonesian students who intend to pursue their tertiary education at selected university in Indonesia.

Therefore, LB is inviting applications from high school graduates who would like to pursue a Bachelor`s Degree program majoring in Commerce, Finance, Economic, Accounting, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistic, and Law.

The scholarship grant will based on the merits of the applicant, including academic grades and school extra-curricular activities. However, to provide opportunities to those who would otherwise have difficulties in financing their tertiary education, special consideration will be given to applications from students that come from a financially disadvantage family.
Coverage of the Scholarship:

2. Grade Point Average for National Examination Result and Average Point for High School Examination Result must be 8.00 or higher.
3. Not presently receiving any other equivalent scholarship or award.

Frater Scholarship The Australian Catholic

GUIDELINES for the Frater Travelling Scholarship

OVERVIEW
Australian Catholic University (ACU National) is pleased to invite applications for the Frater Travelling Scholarship which was established as a result of a generous donation from Dr Bob Frater AO and Mrs Margaret Frater DSG.

Bob and Margaret Frater have sought to recognise and reward eligible teachers within the NSW or ACT Catholic systemic primary school system who display leadership qualities and commitment and whom it is thought will contribute to the continuing development and enhancement of the school system.

The scholarship supports an overseas activity, for example, a suitable conference combined with meeting appropriate colleagues in the educational field. A conference only or a short course/study tour/activity may also be considered.

GUIDELINES
Applicants should print these guidelines for future reference.

Information regarding supporting agencies
In order for the scholarship application to be considered, it should be endorsed by the relevant agency with acknowledgement by the agency that some financial assistance is required. This would mean that the agency would have to meet the recipient’s salary (including the relevant super contribution), as well as that of a relief teacher during the period of the scholarship winner’s absence. The length of absence from duties should be negotiated between the applicant/recipient, especially if it is for an extended period. The applicant must attach a statement from their agency with their application.

* Information for Applicants

1. Eligibility

Applicants must:

* be a graduate of ACU National (or one of its predecessor colleges) working in the teaching profession in a NSW or ACT Catholic systemic primary school;
* show evidence of postgraduate study (either completed or currently being undertaken) – a postgraduate degree from ACU National or current enrolment in a postgraduate course at ACU National would be an advantage but is not essential.
* have demonstrated leadership in schools;
* display a commitment to using their qualifications to work for the betterment of the educational community;
* show evidence of acceptance into a conference/activity/course - this must accompany the application.

2. Benefits

2.1 There is provision for a scholarship to be awarded each year to a total value of approximately $10,000. Depending on the applications, the Selection Committee may decide not to make an award, make one award or to award two scholarships in one year (approximately, $5,000 each).

2.2 The value of each scholarship will be determined by:

The quality and nature of the applications submitted;
*
The anticipated costs of the conference/activity/course.

3. Conditions

Conference/activity to be undertaken some stage during the financial year of July 2008 to June 2009.

After completion of the overseas period, it is required that the recipient/s make a presentation to their cohort outlining the achievements and benefits gained from having had the overseas experience. Bob and Margaret Frater will be invited to attend this function.

4. Required documents

The completed Application Form must be accompanied by:

4.1 A concise report that provides the following information:

Details demonstrating your leadership ability including one example of your Best Practice in leadership in your school; (500 words);
*
What you believe to be your strengths as a leader in your school. (up to 200 words).

4.2 A one-page outline showing your commitment to Catholic primary education, and evidence of how you have worked for the betterment of the educational community.

4.3 Evidence that you have been accepted into the conference/ activity/course including a budget estimate for the total cost of the proposed conference/activity/course including airfares, conference/ activity/course fees and accommodation. Your budget should also show funds acquired from all sources, either institutional or private.

4.4 Two references: one academic reference and one professional reference.

A senior academic staff member who is familiar with your most recent academic work and is able to comment on your academic achievements should provide the academic reference.
*
The professional reference should be from the Catholic school community (eg school principal, regional supervisor) including comments on your leadership qualities, any extra-curricular activities within the educational community as well as your personal qualities.
*
Contact details must be provided for referees, i.e. phone, email address and fax.

4.5 Statement of support from relevant agency indicating that the agency, should the application be successful, agrees to meet the recipient’s salary (including the relevant super contribution), as well as that of a relief teacher during the period of the scholarship winner’s absence.

KAUST Discovery Scholarship 2008 at King Abdullah University

The KAUST Discovery Scholarship is a general scholarship program King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST). This program is designed to ensure that any very talented students who had reason and the right to enroll in a KAUST will receive full financial support, while at university. Those who receive scholarships Discovery receive the full support of learning, living stipend, a summer enrichment programs and career.

KAUST will offer Discovery Scholarships to all KAUST students – an exceptional level of support intended to attract gifted and talented students from Saudi Arabia and from other countries around the world.
KAUST will offer a pre-enrollment version of this general scholarship program to students attending first-university or bachelor’s degree programs. KAUST will provide financial support to pre-enrollment Discovery Scholarship recipients at their home institutions prior to the University’s opening. Upon graduation, these students will enter KAUST as master’s degree students in September 2009 and 2010 to complete their graduate studies on a fully funded scholarship.

Recipients of the KAUST Discovery Scholarship represent future leaders in science, engineering and technology.

* Current enrollment in a first university degree (bachelor’s) program in a KAUST-related field of study
* 550 TOEFL PBT or 213 TOEFL CBT, 79-80 iBT, or 6.0 on the IELTS for non-native English speakers
* Proven research interest and/or leadership potential
* Ability to enter a master’s program at KAUST in September 2009 or after
* A minimum overall GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and a minimum major-field-of-study GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale or equivalent
* 80 credit hours completed, or equivalent by the end of 2008
* Ability to take graduate courses in English

Requirements of the Discovery Scholarship

* Obtaining necessary documents for travel outside of the your home country (KAUST will assist with travel documents for entrance into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia)
* Maintenance of the highest academic standards and results at your current university through graduation
* Return of the signed copy of the KAUST Discovery Scholarship Terms and Conditions upon acceptance
* Copies of the first three (3) pages of your international travel documents, which should include your photograph, birth date, location of birth, and expiration date of your travel documents

Scholarships in Physics, Astronomy, and Maths - UK

Faculty of Science and Technology University of Central Lancashire UK are able to offer a number of scholarships to help you through your studies and made duty-free. All scholarships are obviously subject to a student continues to study on a course qualify for University of Central Lancashire (UCLan).
Institute of Physics Bursary
The Institute of Physics (IoP - the world organization of professional physicists) has awarded a grant from the ministry, which must be given to a student on one of our courses accredited IoP. They are:
* MPhys / BSc Physics
* MPhys / BSc Applied Physics
* MPhys / BSc Astrophysics
* MPhys / BSc Physics with Astrophysics
* All physics courses via combined Awards

The IoP scholarship has a value for the student to € 1000 for each year of their study - in other words, the award of the student will receive this year for all three (BSc) or four (MPhys) years. If a student is eligible for a Ones to Watch scholarships, bursaries will be additional to these funds. The Department is to be awarded annually to a student of a school in the region around UCLan, who would otherwise find it difficult to attend the university. Contact the Department for details.

In addition to the excellence awards and IoP departmental scholarships, students can apply for support UCLan with students from other departments. The schemes managed by the University include:

Ones to Watch

UCLan’s Ones to Watch scholarships are very simple. Any UK or EU students pay the £ 3000 top-up fee full-time degree courses UCLan is eligible for a Ones to Watch scholarships, provided that the high income in the family has a gross salary less than £ 60000. Note this is the income of high-income, and not the total income for the family. Holders of excellence awards or awards for excellence in sport are not eligible to hold a Ones to Watch scholarships in the same year. However, they may require one in the second and subsequent years of their study.

Any student meeting this criterion will receive £ 1000 for each year of study at UCLan. More details on the Ones to Watch page Scholarships available shortly.

Awards for excellence in sport

UCLan offers up to 20 scholarships for students who demonstrate excellence in one of:

* Women’s Football.
* Cycling.
* Golf.
* Additional sports - any person who got the county / representative honours should contact sports @ uclan group for more details.

These are managed centrally. See excellence in sports pages for all the details available shortly. The winners of these scholarships will receive £ 2000 in their first year of study, are eligible to apply for the Ones to Watch Awards in their second and subsequent years of the study.

Harris Bursary

The Harris Fellowship is named after the patron of the Institute Harris, a first runner UCLan. The fund is financed by donations from students, alumni and staff of the University. These awards are managed centrally, and you should see the top of the award of Harris for details (available soon).

Vice Chancellor’s International Scholarships 2008

De Montfort University is committed to supporting international students to benefit from study in the United Kingdom. For courses starting in September 2008, De Montfort University’s Vice-Chancellor is pleased to offer scholarships to 2,000 pounds each.

The scholarships are for 2000 pounds equivalent to a reduction of approximately 20% of the total fees, and will be paid for the entire cost of tuition for foreign students, the status of any country in the World who wish to study at one of the following types of
courses at the De Montfort University, Leicester:

1. Full-time undergraduate (BA / BSc) in any of the object
2. Full-time post-Diplomas and Masters courses (PGDip / MA / MSc / MBA / LLM) in any discipline
3. Full-time MPhil / PhD research degrees in any subject

Scholarships are available for courses beginning in September 2008 only (ie between September 2008 and June 2009 for MPhil / PhD research degrees).

The award of £ 2000 will be a one-off payment and will be deducted from the full cost of tuition at the beginning of the first (or only) grade.

Students move through DMU of one of our systems or progression established collaborative partnerships can also apply for these grants, if they wish.

Only the status of foreign students are eligible.

We will award up to 16 x £ 2000 scholarships for courses above from September 2008. There will be a limited number of scholarships offered by the faculty:

* Faculty of Art and Design: up to 3 scholarships
* Faculty of Business and Law: up to 3 scholarships
* Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering: up to 5 scholarships
* Faculty of Health and Life Sciences: up to 2 scholarships

Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of the submission of a 500 word essay, which will be written by the applicant and evaluated DMU group representatives (each faculty will have his own team).

In 2000 pounds scholarships will be deducted from the total tuition fee of successful applicants, when you arrive for training at DMU. Application Rule

* Overseas-only status of the students can apply for scholarships.
* Both self-funded and sponsored students have the right to apply for participation.
* No cash alternatives will be offered scholarships and can not be transferred to any other time, the DMU, or other designated recipient.
* Only in September 2008, entry (or between September 2008 and June 2009, for research applicants) - scholarships, could not be deferred to a statement in September 2009 or later.
* For foreign students, who are also entitled to a 5% discount for early payment of their assessed contributions in full to students, in 2000 to £ Scholarship will be deducted from the first full fee, a 5% discount from the fee reduction.
* These scholarships will not be awarded in conjunction with any other awards, such as scholarships for graduates of 2008 - students can only receive a stipend DMU, usually a greater cost.
* If an applicant is available scholarships, and then withdraw their application, or not enrolled in a course, for any reason, loss of scholarships.
* The University reserves the right to withdraw fellowship, or not to provide scholarships, at any time before they are distributed.

Who can apply? - How to Apply - Download Application Form
The Robert S. McNamara Fellowships Program provides support to young researchers working in academic and research institutions from developing countries. Fellowships are awarded for a period of five to ten months and must be complete between July 2008 and June 2009. The maximum amount of the grants is US$25,000.

Who can apply?
Only professors and researchers from countries with the right to work in his doctoral thesis can apply the scholarship. Candidates must be under 45 years old, and have completed the course work or any of the examinations required for its doctoral program.

Commitment of fellow

The fellows are required to issue two reports, a report during the period of the fellowship and a final report containing the results of the investigation. The results of the fellows McNamara research work can be considered for publication by the World Bank.

Fellows are expected to return to their home countries and resume their academic or research position after completion of the fellowship. It is also expected to talk about the award of fellowships McNamara any publication relating to their doctoral research work, including their theses, and to provide the program with a copy of his thesis to graduate.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following general criteria to be eligible for a scholarship award:

* Being national and resident of a member country of the World Bank which is currently eligible to borrow;
* Candidates must be under 45 years. Candidates born before January 1, 1964 will not be considered;
* And * Must have completed at least, was awarded a Master’s degree or equivalent, at the time of application;
* Be enrolled regularly in a doctoral program related to development in their places of origin or in another country;
* Must have completed all courses and reviewing the needs of its doctoral program;
* Be employed full-time as a teacher or researcher at an academic institution or research in their country of origin;
* Being accepted as a scholar by a university renowned for a period of five to ten months.
